the pressure exerted by liquid varies according to the depth. why?

Because of Gravity!

On Earth, because the weight of the mass of liquid increases with depth. In other words because the force exerted by the liquid on 1 sq. meter of bottom is the weight of a column of liquid having a cross section of 1 sq. m and a depth of “h” meters.
