Let the price if each hockey ball be x and that of each squash ball be y.

GIVEN

→ The cost of 2 hockey balls and 5 squash balls is Rs75.

I. e. \large{\red{ 2x + 5 y = Rs75}}

→The cost of 3 hockey balls and 2 squash balls is Rs85.

I. e. \large{\red{ 3x + 2y = Rs85}}

TO FIND:

The price of each hockey and squash ball that is x and y respectively.

SOLUTION:

IN First case:

 2x + 5y = Rs 75

On multiplying both sides by 3 , we have;

=>3(2x + 5y ) = Rs75×3

=>6x + 15y =Rs 225 .......... (1)

In second case:

 3x + 2y = Rs85

On multiplying both sides by 2 , we have;

2(3x+2y) =Rs 85×2

=>6x +4y = Rs170 ......... (2)

 \large\red{\boxed{ equation(1) -equation (2) }}

=>6x + 15y =Rs 225

- -6x ±4y = ±Rs170

__________________________

=>11y = Rs 55

=> y =\dfrac{Rs55}{11}

=> y = Rs 5

Therefore cost of the squash ball is y =Rs5

Now, from equation 2.

=>6x +4y = Rs170

=>6x +4×5=Rs170.

=> 6x + 20 =Rs 170

=>6x =Rs(170-20)

=> x =\dfrac{Rs150}{6}

=> x = Rs25

Therefore cost of hockey ball is Rs25.
