The price of 2 tables and 3 chairs is RS. 340 . If a table costs RS.20 more than a chair , find the cost of each .

Let the price of 1 table be Rs.x and that of a chair be Rs.y

Then

=> 2x + 3y = 340 (given) ---------(1)

Also

=> x - 20 = y

Using the above equation in (1)

=> 2x + 3(x - 20) = 340

=> 5x - 60 = 340

=> 5x = 400

=> x = 80 <<<<<< Answer

Then y = 80 - 20

=> y = 60 <<<<<<<< Answer

Thus the cost of table is Rs 80 and cost of chair is Rs.60.
