Answer:

let price of 1 pencil be x

and of 1 pen be y

A.T.Q

3x+4y=33.... (1)

6x+3y= 36........ (2)

subtracting 1 from 2

6x-3x+3y-4y=3

3x-y=3

3x-3=y

putting the value in (1)

3x+4 (3x-3)=33

15x-12=33

15x=45

x=3

again putting value in (2)

3x+4y=33

9+4y=33

4y=24

y=6

price of 1 pencil=3

price of 1 pen=6

 \large\bf\underline {To \: find:-}

  • we need to find the price of pen and pencil.

 \large\bf\underline{Given:-}

  • Price of 3 pancils and 4 pens is 33 rupees.
  • the price of 6 pencils and 3 pens of the same typeis 36 rupees.

 \huge\bf\underline{Solution:-}

  • Let the price of a pencil be x rupees
  • Let the price of a pen be y rupees.

According to Question:-

The price of 3 pencils and 4 pens is 33 rupees

  • ➛ 3x + 4y = 33 ....1)

The price of 6 pencils and 3 pens of the same type is 36 rupees

  • ➛ 6x + 3y = 36 .....2)

☄ Multiplying eq. 1) by 2 we get,

➛ 6x + 8y = 66 .....3)

☄ Solving eq (2) and (3)

⠀6x + 3y = 36

⠀ 6x + 8y = 66

⠀⠀--⠀⠀--⠀⠀--

⠀⠀⠀⠀-5y = -30

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀y = 6

☄putting value of y in eq(2)

➛ 6x + 3y = 36

➛ 6x + 3 × 6 = 36

➛ 6x + 18 = 36

➛ 6x = 36 - 18

➛ 6x = 18

➛ x = 18/6

➛ x = 3

Hence,

  • ✝︎ Cost of a pencil x = 3 rupees
  • ✝︎ Cost of pen y = 6 rupees
