Price of book = Rs 15.75

Marked price = Rs 15.75

Price after discount = Rs 12.75

Discount given to the student = MP - Price after discount

Discount given to the student = Rs 15.75 - 12.75

Discount given to the student = Rs 3

Now,

Discount percent = \mathsf{\dfrac{Discount}{MP} \times 100}

Discount percentage = \dfrac{Rs\:3}{Rs\:15.75} \times 100}

Discount percentage = 19.04 ( Approximately )

Therefore, he got the discount of 19.04 %
