The price of another diamond weighing 1 carat is Rs 1

Solution:

Let price be denoted by p and weight by w

The price of a diamond is proportional to the square of its weight.

Therefore,

p \propto w^2\\\\p = k \times w^2 ------ eqn\ 1

Where, "k" is constant of proportionality

The price of diamond weighing 5 carat is 25

Substitute , p = 25 and w = 5 in eqn 1

25 = k \times 5^2\\\\25 = k \times 25\\\\k = 1

Find the price of another diamond weighing 1 carat

Substitute k = 1 and w = 1 in eqn 1

p = 1 \times 1^2\\\\p = 1

Thus the price of another diamond weighing 1 carat is Rs 1
