Given:

  • The original price = Rs. 400

  • Discount = 8%

To find out:

what will be the new price?

Formula used:

Decrease \% =  \frac{Decrease \: in \: value}{Original \: value}   \times 100

Solution:

Let the new price be Rs. x.

Then, the decrease in price = Rs. (400 - x)

✪According to question:-

Decrease \%= \frac{Decrease  \: in \: value}{Original \: value}  \times 100

 \rightarrow8 =  \frac{(400 - x)}{400}   \times 100

 \rightarrow (400 - x) =  \frac{8 \times 400}{100}

 \rightarrow400 - x = 8 \times 4

 \rightarrow  400 - x = 32

 \rightarrow \: x = 400 - 32

 \rightarrow \: x = 368

∴ The new price of sunglasses is Rs. 368.
