The price of a shirt is reduced by12 % in a discount sale.

⇒100 - 12 = 88

⇒88% = 1188 rupees

⇒1% = 1188/88 = 13.5 rupees

⇒100% = 1350 rupees

⇒1350 rupees was the original price. ANS

                OR      you can do this way also

Let us assume that the Original Price of the Shirt be Rs. X.

Discount on the shirt = 12%

So the value of the discount on the shirt = 12% of X

= 12X/100.

Then the value of the shirt after discount = Rs. (X - 12X/100) = 100X -12X / 100 =Rs. 88X/100.

As we know from the problem that the present price of the shirt = Rs 1188.

Then 88X/100 = 1188

88X = 118800

X = 118800/88 = Rs. 1350.

ANS: Rs. 1350.

Hope this helps.
