let the original price be x then price is increased by 12x/100

Hi...!

Let the original price be Rs. x .

Increase = 12% = 12% of x = Rs 12x/100

Increased price = x + 12x/100 = Rs 112x/100

New price(given) = Rs 896

So, we can say that ,

⇒112x/100 = 896

⇒112x = 896*100

⇒x=89600/112 = Rs 800

Answer : Hence, the original price was Rs 800..
