the price of a table and chair together is 5000 rupees. the price of a table and 4 chairs are 8000 rupees. what is the price of each (using mental maths)​

Let price of 1 table = x rupees

let price of 1 chair = y rupees

x + y = 5000  __________ (1)

x + 4y = 8000 _____________ (2)

Now, subtract (1) from (2)

x + 4y - x - y = 8000 - 5000

3y = 3000

y = 1000

from (1)

x + 1000 = 5000

x = 5000 - 1000

x = 4000

Hence, price of table = 4000 rupees

price of chair = 1000 rupees
