109% of x = 13407.
therefore, x = 12,300.
so, market price is 12300.
cost after increased sales tax= 113% of 12300.
113/100* 12300 = Rs.13899

The Marked price, if sales tax is increased to 13% is Rs.13,200

The customer has to pay 492 rupees more for the T.V. set.

Given:

The "price of the TV" including sales tax 9% = Rs.13407

Increased sales tax = 13%

To find:

Marked price and money customer need to pay.

Solution:

Let us assume the "marked price" of the T.V as Rs.P

Then, the Sales price = Marked price + 9% of marked price

13407=P+P\left(\frac{9}{100}\right)

13407=P\left(1+\frac{9}{100}\right)

13407=P\left(\frac{100+9}{100}\right)

13407=P\left(\frac{109}{100}\right)

P=\frac{13407 \times 100}{109}

\therefore P=Rs.12,300

If the sales tax rate is increased to 13%,

\Rightarrow \text { Sales price }=12300+13 \ \% \ of \ sales \ price

=12300+\left(\frac{13}{100}\right) \times 12300

=12300+1599

\Rightarrow \text { Sales price }=Rs.13899

So, the "customer has to pay",

\Rightarrow Rs.13899-Rs.13407

\Rightarrow Rs.492
