Given,

The price of lawn chair was reduced by 15% on January 7.

The price was further reduced by 15% on February 5.

The price of the chair on February 6 is ₹578.

Now,for calculating the price of the lawn chair on last 25th December,we have to add the reduced percentages with the present price.

Solution,

Let,the price of the lawn chair in last December 25 = ₹ x

So,price after 7th January = x - (x × 15/100) = (x - 3x/20) = ₹ 17x/20

Price after 5th february = (17x/20) - (17x/20 × 15/100) = (17x/20 - 51x/400) = (340x - 51x)/400 = 289x/400

Now, comparing the prices we will get the following equation :

289x/400 = 578

x = 578/289 × 400

x = 800

Hence,the price on last 25th December was ₹800.
