The price of petrol increased by12% last year. Now,the prices are reduced by 12%. Find the bet increase or decrease in the price of petrol

We can calculate it by net percentage formula.

As per the question,

Increase=12%. So x= +12%.
Decrease=12%. So y= -12%.

Net percentage= x+y+xy/100.
= 12-12-(12×12/100).
= 12-12-(144/100).
= 12-12-1.44
= -1.44%

Negative sign depicts decrease or loss.

There will be a total of 1.44% decrease in the price of petrol.
