increment in price=25%

new price=X+25% of X

=X+25/100×X

=X+X/4

=5X/4

Increment in price with respect to older price=5X/4-X

=X/4

Decrement% with respect to new price=(X/4÷5X/4×100)%

=(X/4×4/5X×100)%

=20%

So, the consumer must reduce 20% of consumption of petrol so that the bill on petrol does not alter.
