Step-by-step explanation:

The old price of silk was ₹5000 per metre.

New went up increase = 8% of old price

= 8 ×5000

= 100

= 50×8

= 400 .

This is increase ₹ 400 but not new price.

The new price is = old price + went up increase

price.

= 5000+400

= ₹5400.

This is new price of silk per metre .

Original price = Rs. 5000

New price = price up by 8%

Now , new price will be

 = 5000 \times ( \frac{100 + 8}{100} ) \\ \\ = 5000 \times \frac{108}{100} \\ \\ = 50 \times 108 \\ \\ = 5400.

Hence , New price of silk per metre is Rs. 5400 .
