Step-by-step explanation:

Lets take Initial price of Sugar as 100/ kg

Since, the price of sugar was decreased by 24%, the Final price of sugar will be 100(100%- 24%) = 76%(100)= 76/ kg

we don’t have Initial consumption of sugar. So, lets take 10 Kgs

Now, using Initial price and Inital consumption

We can find the Initial expenditure as 100 * 10 = 1000 rs

As mentioned in the question that not to increase the expenditure, final expenditure will be as same as initial expenditure

Left out quantity is Final consumption of sugar

Final Consumption = Final expenditure / Final price = 1000/76 = 250/19 (>10 kgs) indicates it is Percentage increase

Since 250/19 ends in decimal lets convert 10 interms of fraction by multiplying and dividing by 19 (10= 190/19)

% Increase = {(change)/ initial value } * 100 = {(60/19)/ (190/19) } * 100 = 31.5 % to be increased(approx)
