housewife reduce her consumption of sugar so that the expenditure

on sugar remains same?

Expenditure before increase in price = 100*10 = 1000

Cost of sugar per kg after increase = \frac{110}{100}*100=110

Expenditure after increase in price = 110*10=1100

Sugar to be used by house wife so that the expenditure remains same =

\frac{1000}{110} = 9.09 kg

Reduction in sugar = 10-9.09 = 0.89 kg

Percentage of sugar reduction = \frac{0.89}{10}*100 = 8.9%
