The increase in sugar is 20%

To Find:

Reduction % of sugar consumption

Solution:

• Let,the consumption of sugar be 1 unit.

• Let, the cost of 1 unit sugar be ₹ 100.
• New cost of 1 unit sugar will be ₹ 120.
• Now, ₹120 yield will yield 1 unit of sugar

• ∴ ₹100 will yield $(\dfrac{1}{120}\times100)$unit =$\dfrac{5}{6}$ unit of sugar

• Reduction in consumption :

    $(1-\dfrac{5}{6})=\dfrac{1}{6}$unit

• ∴Reduction % in consumption:

    $(\dfrac{1}{6}\times\dfrac{1}{1}\times100)$%=$\dfrac{50}{3}%$%

     ⇒$16\dfrac{2}{3}$

• ∴ Reduction% in consumption=$16\dfrac{2}{3}$
