The price of sugar has increased by 20%. Let's work out the percentage of

decrease in consumption of sugar if the monthly expenses of sugar remain same.

\huge\mathbb\green{Solution:-}

Let  \: the  \: original  \: price \:  of  \:  \\ the \:  sugar \:  be \:  Rs. \: 100

And \:  the  \: consumption \:  be \:  1kg

Then  \: total  \: expenditure \:  will \:  be  \: Rs. \: 100×1 \: =Rs. \: 100

Now,  \: when  \: price \:  is \:  increased \:  by   \:  20  %, \:   then  \: new  \: price \:  is \:  Rs. \: 120

Then  \: new  \: expense \:  will  \: be \:  Rs. \: 120×1 \: =Rs. \: 120

For  \: expense \:  to \:  be \:  same \:  to \:  Rs. \: 100,

\% \: decrease \: in \: suger \: consumption \:  =  \:  \frac{120 - 100}{120}  \:  \times  \: 100

 =  \:  \frac{50}{3}  \:

 =  \: 16.66 \:  =  \: approx. \: 17\%
