Step-by-step explanation:

ANSWER

Let the original price of the sugar be Rs100

And the consumption be 1kg

Then total expenditure will be Rs100×1=Rs100

Now, when price is increased by 20 %, then new price is Rs120

Then new expense will be Rs120×1=Rs120

For expense to be same to Rs100,

% decrease in sugar consumption = 120−100/120

×100=50/3 =16.66=approx. 17 %

Step-by-step explanation:

let the price of 1kg suger be. Rs 100.

increased percentage =100+20% of 100

=Rs 120

In Rs120 we bought 1kg suger.

in Rs1 we bought 1/120kg

in Rs100 we bought 1/120

1 ÷ 120 × 100

50/3

16.66 = 17 approx.
