Answer:

Let the original cost beRs100

After increase Rs.125

Then 125x (100-D)/100=100

100-D=100x100/125=80

100-D=80

D=100-80=20%

Reduce consumption by 20%

AnswEr :

 \boxed{ \bold{Reduction\% =  \frac{Increase\%}{100 + Increase\%} \times 100 }}

 \bold{Reduction\% = \large { \frac{25}{100 + 25} \times 100 }}

 \bold{Reduction\% =  \large{ \frac{25}{125} \times 100 }}

\bold{Reduction\% =  \large \frac{1}{5}  \times 100}

 \large\bold{Reduction\% =  20\%}
