the probabilities that a and b can solve a problem independently are 1 by 3 and 1 by 6 respectively. if both try to solve the problem independently ;find the probability that: problem will be solved, and both can solve the problem.

P(A)= 1/3
P(B)=1/6
P(A n B)= 1/3×1/6=1/18
P( problem getting solved ) = P(A U B)=1/3+1/6-1/18=9/18-1/18=8/18=4/9 ans
