Answer :

1/2

Note :

Probability of occurrence of an event :

• Mathematical or Priori or Classical definition of Probability :-

If S is the sample space , then the probability of occurrence of an event E is denoted by P(E) and is defined as ;

• P(E) = n(E) / n(S)

• P(E) = no. of elements in E / no. of elements in S

• P(E) = no. of favourable outcomes / no. of total outcomes

★ Probability of occurrence of an event is a number lying between 0 and 1 , ie ;

0 ≤ P(E) ≤ 1 .

Solution :

Here ,

Total number of cards in a deck = 52 .

Thus ,

n(S) = 52

Also ,

E = Drawing a red card

n(E) = 26 (13 of hearts and 13 of diamonds)

Now ,

The probability of drawing a red card from a deck of 52 cards will be ,

=> P(E) = n(E) / n(S)

=> P(E) = 26/52

=> P(E) = ½

Hence ,

Required answer is ½ .

Solution :-

As we know there are four sets in a deck each sets contain 13 cards,

the probability of drawing a red card from a deck of 52 cards is 26/52 = 1/2

Hence the añswer is 1/2
