Answer:

9/50

Step-by-step explanation:

The probability of finding a green signal on any one day is 30/100 or 3/10.

Now if we consider three days and out of that we have to get signal on two consecutive days then possible combination would be;

Probability of Green signals on D1 and D2 = 3/10 x 3/10 = 9/100

Othe combination

Probability of Green signals on D2 and D3 = 3/10 x 3/10 = 9/100

Summing up both conditions = 9/100 + 9/100 = 18/100 = 9 / 50

Given ,

The probability of green signal on a busy crossing = ( 3 / 10 )

We have to find the probability of finding a green signal on X on two consecutive days out of three .

Solution :

Let three days be Day1 , Day2 and Day3 .

The probability for two consecutive days will include the chance that the light will be green on Day1 and Day2 or Day2 and Day3 .

The Probability = probability of green light on Day1 and Day2 + probability

green light on Day2 and Day3

                         = (3/10) * (3/10) + (3/10) * (3/10)

                         = 9/50

The probability of finding a green signal on X on two consecutive days out of three = 9/50
