While Answering a Question :

The Probability of Guessing the Correct Answer + The Probability of Not Guessing the Correct Answer should be Equal to One.

Because, Probability of Mutually Exclusive Events which include all the Events of the Sample Space should be Equal to One.

The Events : Guessing a Correct Answer and Not Guessing a Correct Answer are Mutually Exclusive. Because Each Event eliminates the Possibility of the Other.

Given : Probability of guessing the Correct Answer is = \bold{\frac{P}{12}}

Given : Probability of guessing the Correct Answer is = \bold{\frac{3}{4}}

\bold{\implies \frac{P}{12} + \frac{3}{4} = 1}

\bold{\implies \frac{P}{12} = (1 - \frac{3}{4})}

\bold{\implies \frac{P}{12} = (\frac{1}{4})}

\bold{\implies P = 3}
