Step-by-step explanation:

Well, to answer this Q , its best to think of the P(no missiles hit the target), which is the opposite to P(at least one missile hitting target). Then one can use the rule P(@least one ..) = 1-P(none) etc.

So , if each missile has a 1/3 prob. of hitting target then each missile has 2/3 prob. of not hitting it (using the same rule). Now the prob of both not hitting target is then = 2/3*2/3

= 4/6

therefore using rule above,

P(@least one hits) = 1- P(both miss)

= 1- 4/6

= 2/6
