Probability of winning award for design,

P(0)=0.23

Probability of winning award for fuel efficiency

P(E)=0.35

Probability of winning both award

=0.15=P(D∩E)

P(D)+ P(E)= P(D∪ E)+ P(D∩ E)

P(D∪ E)= P(D)+ P(E)− P(D∩ E)

= 0.25+ 0.35− 0.15

= 0.45

Probability of winning one award

=0.45

Probability that it will get only one of them

=P(D1∩E)+P(D∩E 1

= P(D)− P(D∩ E)+ P(E)− P(D∩ E)

= 0.25+ 0.35− 2(0.45)

= 0.3
