The probability that a student passes a physics test is (2/3) and the probability that he passes both physics and English test is (14/45) . The probability that he passes one test is (4/5). What is the probability that the student passes the English test ? Chp-probability , plz ,plz answer

Hi, I believe the answer is 3/5 + 1/3 - 2(1/8) = 41/60. The

reason is, that the chance of passing at least one subject

is the sum of the probability of passing just English and

just Maths. I've added a diagram here to explain a bit

better. IL.e. it’s the Union of A and B minus the

Intersection. Remember that the Union of A and B is not

A + B because the Intersection is not counted twice.
