Given : The probability that Bridget wins a raffle is given by the expression l/m

To Find : An expression, in the form of a combined single fraction, for the probability that Bridget does not win.

Solution:

P ( E) + P ( not E)  =  1

=>  P ( not E)   = 1 -  P(E)

probability that Bridget wins a raffle  =  l/m

probability that Bridget does not win  =  1  - probability that Bridget wins a raffle

=> probability that Bridget does not win =  1 -  l/m

=> probability that Bridget does not win =  (m -  l)/m

probability that Bridget does not win =  (m -  l)/m
