January has 31 days, which means 4 weeks and 3 days.

So, to have 5 Sundays, any one of the 3 extra days should be a Friday, Saturday, or a Sunday. Check it yourself. To have a fifth sunday the three extra days will have a sunday in it, and the other two days can either be Friday, Saturday or Monday, Tuesday.

Thus, there are seven days in a week (Total Observation)

And, three extra days in the month

Therefore, required probability =3/7..

January will have 5 Sundays if January 1 falls on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Therefore the probability is 3/7
