It is possible for a mineral-rich watervapor to produce solids when it cools (from the ions in the water vapor) -- this happens around geysers and iscalled deposition. Originally Answered: What is the process when a gas changes into a liquid? As a gas cools, it condenses into a liquid in the process of condensation.

The Phase changes can be brought about by heating or cooling. For instance,if water (a liquid) is heated enough, it evaporates and becomes water vapor or steam (a gas). This kind of phase change--liquid to gas--is called evaporation or vaporization. Water vapor can in turn be cooled to form liquid water.
