The gastrointestinal tract, is the tract from the mouth to the anus which includes all the organs of the digestive system in humans and other animals. Food taken in through the mouth is digested to extract nutrients and absorb energy, and expelled in the remaining waste as feces.

Answer:

first of all, the food is taken inside by the mouth or buccal cavity, in that the teeth chew the food and salivary glands add saliva to make the food soft to chew, when the food is chewed then, it is passed to oesophagus or food pipe, through that, the food is passed to stomach, where digestion takes place, there the bile juice from liver, pancreatic juice from pancreas and digestive juices digest the food. after that, the left over is passed to small intestine, where absorption takes place, then the rest waste material is passed to large intestine, there assimilation takes place. now, all the needed material is absorbed properly, so, the waste material is passed to rectum from which it is passed to anus and it is egected out by the process of egestion in the form of urine or solid waste.
