Thee process of union of male gamete with egg cell is called fertilization and the process is called syngamy. This process occurs in the Fallopian tube (it a part of female reproductive system). After the process of fertilization a single celled zygote is formed and it implants to the uterine lining. The other male gamete fuses with 2 polar nuclei present in the ovule thus process is known as triple fusion . In this way two fusions take place i.e. syngamy and triple fusion in the reproduction and hence the process is called double fertilization .
