let x be the non zero rational 
let y be irrational

so their product xy would be rational i.e : xy = z 
Therefore, y= z/x
Here y should be rational so our assumption become wrong as we assumed the product xy is rational & also y to be irrational.

And hence the product of non zero rational & irrational number is always an irrational number..
