To make the reaction possible between the silica and the hydrogen fluoride ,we can perform the reaction in two different methods.

Method 1:

If we take concentrated hydrogen fluoride for the reaction,we will get hydrogen hexafluorosilicate and water.

SiO2+ 6HF ---> H2[SiF6] + 2H2O

Method 2:

If we take diluted hydrogen fluoride for the reaction,we will get silicon tetrafluoride and water.

SiO2 + 4 HF ---> SiF4 + 2 H2O
