Answer :-

  • The other number is 7/5.

To find :-

  • The other number.

Solution :-

  • Here, it is given that the product of 2 numbers is -13 and one of the numbers is -65/7. We have to find the other number. We will do so by taking the other number as "x", forming an equation and then solving it to get our answer!

Let :-

  • The other number be "x".

It is given that :-

  • The product of -65/7 and x is -13.

Therefore,

  \hookrightarrow\tt \dfrac{ - 65}{ \:  \:  \:  \: 7}  \times x =  - 13

 \hookrightarrow \tt x =  - 13 \div  \dfrac{ - 65}{ \:  \:  \:  \:  7}

 \hookrightarrow \tt x =  - 13 \times  \dfrac{ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 7}{ - 65}

 \hookrightarrow \tt x =  - 13 \times  \dfrac{ \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 7}{- 65}

Cancelling the numbers,

 \hookrightarrow \tt x = 1 \times   \dfrac{7}{5}

  \hookrightarrow\tt x =  \dfrac{7}{5}

Hence :-

  • The other number is 7/5.

  • To check our answer, let's multiply -65/7 and 7/5 and see whether their product is -13.

\longmapsto\bf\dfrac{ - 65}{ \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 7}  \times  \dfrac{7}{5}

Cancelling the numbers,

  \longmapsto \bf\dfrac{ - 13}{ \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 1}  \times  \dfrac{1}{1}

 \longmapsto \bf \dfrac{ - 13}{ \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 1}

  \longmapsto \bf- 13

 \\

The product of -65/7 and 7/5.

Hence verified!
