The product of LCM and HCF of two numbers is equal to the product of the two numbers.

1. Let us take an example.

  Let the first number be equal to 16 and the other number be equal to 18.

  The HCF of 16 and 18 is:

 Factors of 16 = 1, 2, 4, 8, 16

 Factors of 18 = 1, 2, 3, 9, 18

 The HCF of 16 and 18 is = 2

  The LCM of 16 and 18 is:

   16 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 1

   18 = 2 x 3 x 3 x 1

   LCM of 16 and 18 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 = 144

   Now,

The product of their HCF and LCM = 2 x 144 = 288

The product of 16 and 18 = 288

Hence,

The product of the numbers = The product of their HCF and LCM.
