Solution :-

Let Terry present age is x years .

So,

→ Alan present age = (x + 4) years .

now,

→ 4 years before, terry age = (x - 4) years .

→ 4 years before , alan age = (x + 4) - 4 = x years .

A/q,

→ x(x + 4) - x(x - 4) = 80

→ x[(x + 4) - (x - 4)] = 80

→ x[x + 4 - x + 4] = 80

→ 8x = 80

→ x = 10

therefore,

→ Current age of Terry = 10 years .

→ Current age of Alan = 14 years .
