Let the numbers be x and x+2.

As per given condition:-

x (x+2) = 120

x^2 +2x - 120 = 0

x^2 +12x-10x -120 = 0

x (x+12) -10 (x+12) = 0

(x+12)(x-10) = 0

x = -12 & 10

When x = -12

The numbers are

x = -12 &

x +2 = -12+2

= -10

When x = 10

Then numbers are

x = 10

x+2 = 12

Answer:

10 , 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the two consecutive even numbers be (x+2) and (x+4).

Now,

According to the question,

(x+2)(x+4) = 120

x² + 4x + 2x + 8 = 120

x² + 6x + 8 - 120 = 0

x² + 6x - 112 = 0

By splitting the middle term,

x² + 14x - 8x -112 = 0

x (x+14) -8 (x+14) = 0

(x+14)(x-8) = 0

x = -14 and x = 8

Therefore,

the numbers are 10 and 12.
