Answer:

Let the first integer be x.

Since the integers are consecutive, they have to be x and (x+1).

(x)*(x+1) = 56

x² + x - 56 = 0

x² + 8x - 7x - 56 = 0

x (x+8) - 7 (x+8) = 0

(x-7) (x+8) = 0

x-7 = 0  or  x+8 = 0

x = 7  or  x = -8

If x = 7,

then, x+1 = 7+1 = 8

The integers are 7 and 8

If x = -8,

then, x+1 = -8+1 = -7

The integers are -7 and -8
