x = 17

x = - 18

\bf \pink{step \: by \: step \: explanation}

Let x and x + 1 be the two consecutive positive integers .

Then, x(x + 1) = 306

→ x² + x - 306 = 0.

→ x² + 18x - 17x - 306 = 0.

→ x ( x + 18 ) - 17 ( x + 18 ) = 0

→ ( x - 17 ) ( x + 18 ) = 0.

→ x - 17 = 0

→ x = 17

and

→ x + 18 = 0

→ x = -18

Rejecting x = -18 , as the given numbers are positive , we get x = 17

•°• The two integers are 17 and 18.

HELLO DEAR

given the product of two consecutive positive integers is 306.

let the one integer be x

and hence another be x+1

atq, x(x+1) = 306

x² + x = 306

x² + x - 306 = 0

x² + 18x - 17x - 306 = 0

x(x+18) -17(x+18)

(x-17)(x+18)

x = 17 [since integer must be positive ]

so one number is 17

and another will be 17 + 1 = 18
