Answer:

let the first number be x

then other number will be (x +2)

according to question

x( x +2) = 143

=> +2x = 143

=> +2x -143 = 0

=> + 13 x - 11x - 143 = 0

=> x( x + 13) -11( x +13) = 0

=> (x + 13)( x -11) = 0

=> x +13 = 0 , x -11 = 0

=> x = -13 and x = 11

Taking positive value of x

then

first number = x = 11

second number = x + 2 = 11 +2 = 13
