let the other number be x

3.15 \times x = 120.58

x =  \frac{120.58}{3.15}

x = 38.28

Answer:

product means multiplication so

take the unknown number as p and then

3.15 x P = 120.58

then you shift the 3.15 to the other side which will make it into division

so then

P = 120.58/3.15

since the divisor is a decimal number you multiply

120.58 x 100 =12058

3.15 x100= 315

then you dividie which will give you 38.28
