let the number be x.
If other number is 16 times than 1st number,
the second number be 16x.
A.T.Q.

$16x \times x = 1296 \\ 16x {}^{2} = 1296 \\ x {}^{2} = 1296 \div 16 \\ x {}^{2} = 81 \\ x = \sqrt{81} \\ x = 9 \:$
$1st \: number \: = \: 9 \\ 2nd \: number \: = 16 \times 9 = 144$
Hence,The two numbers are 9 and 144.
