Let X and Y be numbers
» xy = 24 .......(1)and
x^2 + y^2 = 52 ....(2)
From 1 , x = 24/y
Therefore, (2) becomes
(24/y)^2 + y^2 = 52
576/y^2 + y^2 = 52
» 576 + y^4 = 52y^2
» y^4 - 52y^2 +576 = 0 ....(3)
solving (3) We get
y^2 = 52 +20 / 2 = 36
y = 6

x = 24/6 = 4
x+ y = 10
