Solution :

A proper fraction is a fraction in which numerator is less than the denominator.

An improper fraction is a fraction in which numerator is greater than the denominator.

(a) Let x=35,y=45

Here, x and y are proper fractions.

Then, their product =xy=(35)(45)=1225

As, 1225<35and1225<45.

So, product of two proper fractions is less than each of the fractions.

(b) Let x=35,y=54

Here, x is a proper fraction and y is an improper fraction.

Then, their product =xy=(35)(54)=34

As, 35<34and54>34.

So, the product of a proper and an improper fraction is less than the improper fraction and greater than the proper fraction.

(c) Let x=54,y=75

Here, x and y are improper fractions.

Then, their product =xy=(54)(75)=74

As 74>54and74>75

So, the product of two improper fractions is greater than the two fractions.
