product of two rational numbers = -28/81
one number given = 14/27
let number be  = x
according to the sum,
         x * 14/27 = -28/81
                     x = -28/81 / 14/27
                      x = -2/3
therefore other number is -2/3

The other number is (-\dfrac{2}{3}).

Step-by-step explanation:

Simply divide the product by one given number to get the other number.

So, the other number is

(-\dfrac{28}{81})\div\dfrac{14}{27}

=-\dfrac{28}{81}\times\dfrac{27}{14}

=-\dfrac{\bold{14}\times 2}{\bold{27}\times 3}\times\dfrac{\bold{27}}{\bold{14}}

=-\dfrac{2}{3}

Check step:

Product of the two numbers

=\dfrac{14}{27}\times(-\dfrac{2}{3})

=-\dfrac{28}{81}

Thus the answer is verified.
