-8/27+ x=5/9
x= 5/9+8/27
x=15+8/27
x=23/27

2nd rational number is 23/27

"The other number is -\frac{15}{8}

Given:

Product of the “two rational numbers” is\frac{5}{9}

To find:

The other number.

Solution:

Let two numbers be x & y,

According to question

The equation should be formed in a way of “arriving at” the exact solution. So, the first equation can be formed as below,

x\quad \times \quad y\quad =\quad \frac { 5 }{ 9 }

\left( -\frac { 8 }{ 27 } \right) \quad \times \quad y\quad =\quad \frac { 5 }{ 9 }

y\quad =\quad \frac { \left( \frac { 5 }{ 9 } \right) }{ \left( -\frac { 8 }{ 27 } \right) }

y\quad =\quad \left( \frac { 5 }{ 9 } \right) \times \left( -\frac { 27 }{ 8 } \right)

y\quad =\quad -\frac { 15 }{ 8 }"
