This statement is true.

the proportion of people working in different activities varies in developed and developing countries.

According to India, which is a developing country, most people work in the primary sector then in secondary and least in tertiary sector.

For USA, a fully developed Nation, most people work in Tertiary and secondary sector that benefits the country's trade and capital income.

Now, why is it that in India people are in Primary Sector the most.

This is because this sector includes the job that is the main job of India has the highest number of occupants:- Agriculture.
