Epidermis is the protective layer which is found in plants stem, roots and shrubs, it is similar to skin in the animals, it form a protective barrier to the external surface of the plant.

Dermal tissue consists of three layer epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. The epidermis is the outer layer which form the skin while dermis and hypodermis form the inner layer.

It control the amount of water released from the plant and it also act as barrier against any infection.
